Even though this breed is considered "beginner friendly", we try not to claim many horses are for a beginner
or bombproof. ANY horse
will spook, even the quietest. If you are nervous, odds are your horse will be too. Also, any horse may challenge you, this
breed is no exception. If you do not take the alfa role your horse will.
If this is your first time buying a horse we recommend bringing an experienced trainer with you. They are qualified
to pick up on things you may not. Plus, they are an unbiased party, with nothing to gain from the purchase. Please keep
in mind, when you do buy your horse, it takes a good two weeks of adjustment for both of you.
Visit a lot of farms, ride many horses, and TAKE YOUR TIME! If you can not get the horse to perform on their home
territory, most likely it will not get any better when you get them home. But it does take time and practice for a beginner
to get a gaited horse to gait properly.
Although our horses are ridden once or twice a week by a professional trainer, as well as us, we are not professionals
and would never claim to be.We breed one or two a year because we simply love Mountain horses and there is a growing demand
for them. We try to be as honest as we can, because we want our horses to go to a forever home and not to be resold again,
simply because the horse is not what you "expected".
This is a big animal that is going to be part of your family, make a wise choice based on your experience,
and what you would like to accomplish with the horse.
And lastly, good luck and Happy Trails!
