Out of light into darkness

the surging one presses into the waiting other.

                   Being grows to form

                             struggling, gasping, birthing

Out of darkness into light.

                             Struggling, learning, loving,

                   form grows to meaning.

The surging one presses into the waiting other

in the light seeking light.

In the light seeking Light

the aging one crashes into the ageless other.

                   Meaning is being

                             struggling, hoping, mourning.

Out of light into darkness,

                             struggling, grasping, dying,

                   form clings to being.

The ebbing one presses into the waiting Other

out of Darkness into Light.

upon the illness & death of her cousin, Roy Tumlinson

Darkness

          awash in a sea of

unbeing…

                             Spirit breath

          stirs the darkling sea…

                   Let there be

Light

          effulgence of splendor

                   I AM

I am.

          Awake!  Arise!  Shine!

                             Thy light

                   is come.

Notes:

John 1 related to Genesis

                   and to Ephesians

images of creation (new birth):  spirit, breath, wind  & water

Is Isaiah 59:19-60:19 the source of Paul’s quote in Ephesians?

                             “Arise shine

                             glory of the Lord

                             risen upon you.”
