I noticed a fly…

Buzzing, buzzing at the window,

          trapped…

                   invisible pane of separation

                             from all well-known pleasures,

                                      in a world wholly unfamiliar.

At the window, buzzing, buzzing,

          trapped…

                   unreachable light fading, failing,

                             alienated

in a room with no exit.

Buzzing, buzzing at the window,

          trapped…

                   invisible pain of separation

                             from well-remembered pleasures,

                                      in a life wholly unfamiliar.

At the window, buzzing, buzzing,

          trapped…

in my head, doors slamming shut.

                             You left me alone,

in a room with no exit,

buzzing, buzzing at the window,

          trapped…
