Prototype for Transmetal 2 Prowl, the Hunter Owl. As you can see the early proto is very different from the production Prowl. The prototype is molded in white, off-white, and line green plastics with red chrome. The three red transparent bubbles (on wings and head) on the production piece are opaque plastic on the proto. The proto is missing the eye piece.

Prowl has some very cool features: The top of the head flips over to reveal the Maximal insignia in a green sunken crystal/bubble (the Beast Wars answer to the Transformers' rub sign?), there's a button on the back that makes the head rotate around in a 360 degree circle (like any self-respecting owl should be able to do). The wings pivot out to a maximum 8 inch wingspan!
What really makes Prowl cool is the amount of detail that went into the sculpt. It would have been easy to sculpt one leg, one arm, one whatever and just use it for both sides on the body. But all the pieces are sculpted differently. If one part is machine-like, the other is beast-like. It really gives it a true feeling that this is a freak of organometallic nature (or, a Transmetal, if you will). The robot eyes are both different shapes, which give it a truly bizarre, demented look. Prowl is one of the highlights of the TM2 line so far.
And, no, it is not for sale. : )
