Pepper Gas Information

What Is Pepper Gas?

Pepper gas is a self-defense weapon in the form of a spray. The active ingredient is oleoresin capscium, a derivative of hot red cayenne peppers. It acts as an inflammatory agent causing immediate dilation of the capillaries and inflammation of the breathing tube tissues. This results in temporary blindness, severe coughing, shortness of breath, and possible nausea. The effect lasts 30 to 60 minutes. Lab results have shown that there are no permanent long term effects.

Comparisons

It is interesting to note that Mace, CN and CS tear gas, known as irritants, take anywhere from ten seconds on up to one minute before working. Many people under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or with mental conditions are undeterred by these sprays. In the case with pepper sprays, an attacker is unable to function because of the effects on the mucous membranes, eyes, and respiratory system.

Features

Using the latest technology from the fire extinguisher industry, pepper sprays come in dispensers that allow for wide powerful bursts. The effective discharge distance is from 6 to 30 feet depending on canister size. The halon propellant and capscium ingredients will not decompose or degenerate with age.

Acceptance and Usage

Pepper sprays are being successfully used as a non-lethal weapon by law enforcement agencies worldwide.

Stungun Information

What Is A Stungun?

A stungun is a legal electrical self-defence device that puts out a high voltage shock. By touching an intruder with the gun, the person is immobilized for several minutes with no permanent harm.

Voltage Information

Most stun guns use a 9 volt NICKEL CADMIUM rechargeable battery or a regular 9 volt battery. This is the total amount of power available to the gun. It does not create anymore power than that which is provided by the 9 volt battery. The stun gun modifies the form of the power provided by the battery. There is not enough power that can be generated from a 9 volt battery to cause electrocution. When a stungun states that it produces 50,000 volts and you see it arcing on the test probe, it can be very intimidating; however, you have probably been hit by 25,000 volts many times when you walk across carpet on a dry day and touch a door knob. The reason this high voltage does not cause permanent harm is because the amperage is so low. Most stun guns put out a G current effectiveness of 0.003 amps (3 Milliamps).

Effects of a Stun Gun

A stun gun works on the neural and muscular system. The effects to the internal organs are minimal. The maximum electrical shocking power is well below the borderline shock range, which has been scientifically established at 5 milliamps at 60 cycles per second, similar to that of a household current. Because the typical stun gun operates at 3 milliamps and at a much lower pulse frequency, it is regarded safe. Although longterm effects to the internal organs are minimal, the device still does what it is supposed to do by way of being a self defense weapon. The stun gun has a very significant effect on the human heart.
