Running out of Titles

No title, just stuff. It's the prosaic happenings of daily life anyway, lacking the structure and cohesion of fiction. Work life: post-ALA settling into the groove. Getting more acquainted with my new hire, while she gets more acquainted with the many faces of our crew (and the challenges therein). The good side is that I think we'll be able to better move our projects forward. It's nice to beef up that layer of management.

Waylaid in the church search by Father's Day, conferencing, (I think that's all but it seems longer--it will be 3 weeks without church). Filled in by a Saturday visit by my friend who's a Jehovah's Witness (the visits came first, the friendship later). May sample Episcopalians next. I'm actually enjoying the sampling but am also looking forward to it becoming a family affair again.

A 3-day weekend ahead to garden, relax etc. Also to stay cool in the California heat.

Wackadoo!

May and June have been wild, heading to the close of our fiscal year. In Library Acquisitions-land, that means receiving and processing invoices as fast as our little fingers can fly, and for a manager of such a team it means adjusting folks' assignments as the work dictates and rolling up my own sleeves to receive/invoice as well. Hopefully it will pay off karmically. It also has me exhausted and really looking forward to the wine.

Activism work slows up as does informing myself. A brief bit of our local Air America station at either end of the day, and a website here and there. The job is far too busy to care about much else--maybe that's the strategy--to overwork everyone so they don't notice the (insert your choice of metaphor here).

The church search is on again--can't handle even the minor partisan statements slipped in by the default pastor. One progressive church might have been too progressive, and the other one is in pastor-transition and has heartfelt, enthusiastic, but not very good music (in the contemporary service anyway). Candidate number three may have to wait until after Father's Day visits.
