It's Coming
Gas is $2.70 at the cheap franchise (still sourced by the Saudis). Seeing this happening, along with reading The Long Emergency: Surviving the End of the Oil Age, Climate Change, and Other Converging Catastrophes of the Twenty-first Century, is prompting me to think about a short-term plan for the fossil-fuel shortages. How does one gradually prepare for going off the grid while still being in the grid?

Hi, Lisa.
I've noticed a few remarks about peak oil and Heinberg's book, The Party's Over. I can't tell where you are located. Somewhere near Sacramento? Because I found your blog during a google search for "Sacramento, Post-carbon"
Anyway, if you are in the Sac area, please check out my new blog "Sacramento Post-Carbon Outpost." I also have started a Yahoo Group for discussion and organization around post-carbon issues. Please visit: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sacpost-carbon
Let me know if you are interested in getting active on this issue. I know you have a young child and are very, very busy, but everyone who is aware of what's coming needs to do "something," whatever they are capable of doing, no matter how small. The time for just thinking and reading about it is through. Groups are forming now do DO SOMETHING. Hope to see you around!
