Philip Donleavy and Robert Mitchell of the Donleavy-Mitchell Organization are producing several J.P. Donleavy audio books on cassette. The first in the series and available now is The Ginger Man, featured in a limited-edition, 9-cassette set, masterfully read by the author himself,
each package signed on the spine. Click on the illustration for ordering information and larger view.
Next in the series and already begun is The Unexpurgated Code: A Complete Manual of Survival & Manners, also read by J.P. Donleavy. Updates will be posted on this page and the JPD News page. Also check the
official site of The Ginger Man for details of all things relating to The Ginger Man and other Donleavy-Mitchell Organization projects.

Audio cassette | Tapes for Readers, Washington, D.C. 1980 | Single cassette An interview on audio cassette conducted by Stephen Banker. As always, Donleavy is the epitome of the gentleman, which seems to surprise interviewers, expecting someone more raucous and radical. Some good subjects and questions put to the author who sheds some light on his views beyond his books and writing. Banker is an adroit interviewer, keeping it moving along. My only criticism is that the tape isn't very long; indeed, there is a definite urge to reach for a nonexistent tape 2 upon completion of the second side. |
