Behavorial and Nutritional Consultations

During a consultation in your home, Diane will look at your cat's living area, learn their habits, and listen to what your goals as a guardian are. She can offer suggestions on improving communication and bonding with your cat. Has he developed preferences for scratching or urinating that are inconvenient to say the least? A major reason many people break their commitment with their cat is "inappropriate urination". A visit to the veterinarian should be first in order to rule out a medical reason. If your cat is physically healthy, there are many different options you can implement in your home in attempt to alleviate the psychological reasons he may not want to use his litterbox.

Have you brought a new member of the household into your life? Changes such as a new partner, baby or an animal friend can be extremely stressful for some cats. Does your cat have a place where he feels safe, with adequate spots to fully scratch/scent as his own? Cats scratch for the exercise but also to mark a spot as their territory. High perches are important for some cats and vertical space can increase you cat's living space in a small house. Diane can show you ways to offer enrichment to eliminate kitty boredom, which often equals destruction to objects we humans value.

Are you interested in incorporating more fresh foods or raw meat meals into your cat's diet? After researching options and consulting with several veterinarians, Diane started three of her male kitties on a mainly raw meat diet after they developed urinary crystals about 10 years ago. Today, more ready-made raw foods are available, as well as higher quality dry and canned foods than ever before. Adult cats that are overweight, have a dull coat and shed excessively, or cats that are always hungry may be good candidates for gradual improvements in their diet. An optimal diet may prevent chronic disease such as obesity, diabetes, thyroid conditions, and cancer, and may also help your cat cope with stress better. Rates for an in-home consultation: $30 per hour, one hour minimum, within Seattle, Bothell, Shoreline and Montlake Terrace. In-home visits to areas outside of Seattle will incur travel time.

Complimentary 15 minute phone consultations to discuss a course of action for your kitty's situation.
