THE SPIRIT OF CARNIVAL
"Kaiso!" is a shout of enthusiasm heard at calypso tent shows on the island of Trinidad from New Year's Eve to Carnival time.
Celebrate the spirit of Carnival with Dance Kaiso's upbeat and colorfully costumed performance featuring songs, dances, drumming,
and steel pan music. Learn the geography and demographics of the Caribbean. Discover the mathematical basis of rhythm. Students
join in the masquerade and revelry as this dynamic assembly culminates in a Caribbean-style "Dragon Band" parade.
At the university level, a discussion of African retentions in Caribbean and American dance forms is included.
We also perform in a full-length concert format.
