The following photos are from the April, 2004 Los Angeles Games Day
event. The Minas Tirith table was built by Matt Staley and he was kind
enough to let me take pictures of it before the doors opened and the
hordes descended upon him, as it was by far the best-looking table in
the whole hall. Some of the pictures are fuzzy as I wasn't using my
flash. Normally I wouldn't include them, but the table outshines my
shoddy camera-work, so I've kept them in.
As
a side note, GW had a painted-up Mumakil on display along with plastic
sprues of the Haradrim archers that ride in the howdah.
It looked amazing, but no pictures were allowed. Too bad they weren't
able to use it for this game!
The
hordes of Mordor march to the gates of the White City:
(Matt told me that in a test-run of this big game at his local
Battle Bunker the Gondorian Trebuchets were so
devastating the Orcs never made it to the walls, so he only gave the
Free Peoples one Trebuchet at Games Day.)
I
get arthritis pains just looking at all these painted minis, let alone
the beatiful scenery!
I didn't ask how much assistance he had getting these figures ready,
but it must have been a formidable undertaking
A
couple close-ups of the Mordor Siege Towers,
taken for the inevitable day when I attempt to make my own!
The Charge of the Rohirrim:
The
defenders line the walls.
Hmmm, is that the max of 33% archers? ;-)
More defenders behind the gates awaiting their doom.
The Siege Tower has reach the wall and the Orcs fight their way across!
Death to the rule of Men!
(Matt kindly staged this shot for me,
as it would have been impossible to get properly during the game)
