The Skylark - Our New Home

These pages are a chronicle of our adventure into owning a new-construction home. We took pictures, of course, and we posted them here for your entertainment.

The pictures were taken using a Sony Mavica MVC-FD90 digital camera: 1.6 megapixels (interpolated). Almost all of the pictures were brightened using the Photo Editor program supplied with Microsoft Office-97. These are the "e-mail" size pictures (roughly 13KB, 240h x 320w). They are linked to the original, unmodified large image (640 x 480 pixels) pictures which reside on some server space we have at another ISP (DLS.net).

We included pictures of the Skylark model as a reminder of what we liked most about this home.

The adventure of The Skylark begins with the lot where the house will be built. The pre-construction tasks had begun as of this writing (6-Oct-2003) and we're waiting for the hole to be dug so the forms can be placed and the concrete basement poured. After that cures and framing begins, we're hoping the house will be finished as quickly as the weather will allow. We won't be in the house until well after the holidays, but that didn't stop us from decorating. See the "We've Been Framed!" page.

Christmas at Pheasant Landing

As much as we'd wanted to believe that this would be an easy, care-free experience, we knew that "stuff happens", and we would have challenges. All the same, this is as close as our house-hunting ever brought us to our "dream home". We both went into this experience very excited and very hopeful.

Epilogue:

We'd like to thank Stephens and Hayes Builders for graciously allowing us to be in the house every week to look around and take pictures. We wish all builders would do this.

We'd also like to thank everyone who worked on the house for their hard work and craftsmanship. A very nice job all around.
