(April 1998 through present). As an independent software consultant, prepared and taught Visual C++ Programming with MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class Library) for ComputerFocus, a training organization in Oxnard, CA. Offered the same course through UCSB extension division as well as Intro to Photoshop and Professional Photoshop through Santa Barbara City College Continuing Education. Designed, created and continue to edit, maintain and market the on-line magazine AllOurPets.com. Have increased circulation to 64,000 hits weekly as of July 2001. As marketing and design consultant designed new web site and promotional material for Svit Ozor Fine Arts, Santa Barbara's largest art gallery. For Biopac Systems, prototyped a user interface customization utility as well as programming enhancements to the company's Physiology Student Labs software for Windows 95 and NT. Enhanced documentation. Digolov Design. (1997 to March 1998). As an independent software consultant, have developed end-user link products for Alliance Manufacturing Software, Inc., a medium-sized software development organization in Santa Barbara. These products allow the user to export financial information from the company's manufacturing software package and to import the data into the most widely used English accounting package, Sage Sterling. The export module was developed in Visual FoxPro v. 5.0 and the import module in Visual C++ v. 5.0. Both are seamlessly integrated into the Sterling user interface. Developed prototypes for the company's new client-server MRP II software package, a three-tier application using Visual Basic clients, Visual C++ business layer, and Sequel Server as the database. Active Template Library (ATL) and Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS), as well as COM/DCOM were among the new technologies being explored. Green Hills Software, Inc. (1996-1997). As Total Quality Manager, led the testing effort for the 32-bit Windows product release of the MULTI integrated software development environment. This also involved the associated C and C++ compilers and debug servers for embedded targets such as Motorola PowerPC, Intel 960, and Hitachi SH. During this time frame the products advanced from being extremely unstable to being moderately reliable. Conducted an independent evaluation of automated GUI testing tools which culminated in the selection and acquisition of QA Partner from Segue Software. Wrote a tutorial, using Adobe Framemaker and Photoshop, designed for new users of the MULTI product. Designed new book covers, packaging for documentation and media, and CD jewel case from original photographs. E-Systems, Goleta Division, formerly Raytheon. (1995-1996). Senior Software Engineer on the Advanced Integrated Electronic Warfare System (AIEWS) project. Designed, implemented and tested the fault equation evaluation software for the embedded diagnostics tests (EDT) running on the Emitter Tracking Unit (ETU), a 68040 processor. Development was under Solaris on SPARCs. Defined the library structure for the EDT software in conjunction with the ClearCase configuration management tool. Prototyped a Motif-based human-machine interface for the EDT software, using UIMX and C++ on the HP7000. This was based on an object-oriented design produced with the Rational Rose CASE tool. Conducted an in-depth evaluation of four vendors' Ada compilers and development environments (Green Hills AdaMULTI, Thomson Object Ada, Rational Apex, and DDC-I Ada). As a result of this evaluation was recruited by Green Hills to help them improve the quality of their software. UCSB Extension Division (1994-present). Taught Object-Oriented Analysis and Design every quarter, as well as an introduction to C programming. Telos Consulting Services (1990-1995). As a senior technical consultant, assignments included software development, technical writing, presentations, and training. For ITT, Federal Services Corporation designed the new Range Safety Telemetry System (RSTS) software to interface with a commercial off-the-shelf system. The RSTS was required to gather telemetry inputs, perform specialized processing in real-time, and output the data via RS232 serial interface for missiles such as Titan and Peacekeeper. Silicon Graphics processors were used for both host development and the embedded targets. Documented alll aspects of the software. For Hughes Aircraft in Colorado Springs, was responsible for implementing, integrating, and testing the Sensor Data Processor task and the Threat Assessment task for a strategic defense aerospace simulation hosted on multiple Silicon Graphics workstations. Satellites, vehicle launches, and target hits were modeled in real-time. This involved message passing via Hughes proprietary interprocess communications software and also the Sybase relational database, using stored SQL procedures, and calls to a Hughes proprietary graphics library. For qad.inc, re-engineered a group of utility programs in C and UNIX shell scripts for translating their MFG/PRO software package into foreign languages. The code was greatly streamlined both in terms of size and efficiency. Also, used the Progress 4GL language to customize portions of the MFG/PRO product for various qad.inc customers, including Alcoa and 3M. Training assignments included preparing and teaching Object-Oriented Analysis and Design for Delco, Comptek, and MacDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, C++ for Telos consultants in Santa Barbara and for Hughes Aircraft in Colorado Springs. SmartStar Corporation (1989-1990). Trained customers in the use of the company's 4GL products, in SQL, and in developing applications using embedded SQL. Developed training materials and documents. General Research Corporation (1984-1989). As a member of the technical staff led the user interface team on the SLCSE (Software Life Cycle Support Environment) project. This development effort for the USAF Rome Air Defense Center featured multiple language support and a homogeneous graphical user interface and infrastructure database. Designed and implemented the user interface, graphics and database aspects of the tool SPRIGHT (Simulation Post-Processing in Graphs, Histograms, and Tables). For the NIXIE project (US Navy) developed suite of documents according to military standards. Software:Ada, C and C++ compilers, Java, Java Script, HTML, Green Hills C and C++ compilers and MULTI development environment, Microsoft Windows NT and 95, 98, Word, and PowerPoint, Microsoft Foundation Class Library, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, ImageReady, Pagemaker, and FrameMaker, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Sun Solaris and SunOS, Silicon Graphics Irix, Microsoft Visual FoxPro, Microsoft Visual Source Safe, Microsoft Visual Basic, Sybase, SQL, Perl/CGI, Macromedia Cold Fusion. Hardware:Silicon Graphics Iris Indigo Elan, Sun SPARC 10, Hewlett Packard 7000, Motorola 68040 and PowerPC, IBM PC Pentium, Macintosh, DEC VAX 750/780/781 and MicroVAX. Education:Ph.D. in Music, Indiana University. BS and MS in Music, Juilliard School of Music. AA in Computer Science, Santa Barbara City College. Brooks Institute of Photography.
