2) From points south (via the Parkway and Rte. 18)
3) From points north (via the Parkway and Rte. 1)
4) From points northwest (via I-287 and River Rd.)
5) From the Plainfield Area (wherever that is)
1) From points north or south (via the Turnpike)
Take the New Jersey Turnpike and get off at exit 9 (New Brunswick)
Past the toll booths, keep to the right and follow signs for Route 18 North.
(at this point you're only 5 - 10 minutes away)
Once on Route 18, get eventually into one of the two leftmost lanes. Very shortly (within a quarter
of a mile) the two rightmost lanes will become exit only for Route 1 North, which you want to avoid.
Cross over Route 1; immediately past Route 1, you'll come to a stop light (Paulus Blvd.) Go "straight"
through this light.
Take the first exit (on the right) past Paulus Blvd. The signs will say "George Street" and "Rte 172".
The ramp will take you up and over Rte 18, and bring you to the first light (Gibbons Ct., which is for
entrance to various Rutgers' buildings). Go "straight" through this light. The road will make a hard right turn and
bring you to the second light (Nichol Avenue).
(Note: At that "hard right", there is a street--Clifton St.--that forks off to the left.
Please ignore that street. I already got someone lost because she took that route, which leads into the bowels of Cook Campus.
They've apparently widened that street recently, so it looks inviting to take. It's the only connecting street between
the first light and Nichol Ave.)
Turn left onto Nichol Avenue.
The Friends Meeting House is on 109 Nichol Avenue--on the Corner of Nichol and Hale. Counting
from George Street, Hale is the fifth cross street on the right (Rutgers is on the left so the streets are completely different).
Right before you reach Hale Street (on the right) you'll see the Meeting House with a large wooden deck with wheel chair ramps
attached to the side of the Meeting House)
Park on Hale or one of the other side streets, but not on Nichol Ave. The signs will say "Resident
Parking Only" but it only applies before 5pm. There won't be any problem as long as you don't block someone's driveway
or something. (The driveway at the Friends Meeting House is strictly for tenants (the house has three apartments as
well as the Meeting space).)
Enter the building through the door off of that large wooden deck. Meetings usually start at 7:30pm,
but there's usually someone there setting up around 7pm.
2) From points south (via the Parkway and Rte. 18)
If Travelling north on the Garden State Parkway, exit Parkway at exit 105. Follow signs and get
onto Route 18 North.
Go approximately 26 miles on Route 18, through Old Bridge and East Brunswick.
Eventually you will pass the entrance to the New Jersey Turnpike. At that point you are about
five minutes away from your destination.
Once past the Turnpike, make sure you are in one of the two leftmost lanes. Very shortly (within
a quarter of a mile) the two rightmost lanes will become exit only for Route 1 North, which you want to avoid.
Cross over Route 1; immediately past Route 1, you'll come to a stop light (Paulus Blvd.) Go "straight"

3) From points north (via the Parkway and Rte. 1)
If your heading south from North Jersey, get off Parkway at exit 130, following signs for US Route 1 south.
Follow Route 1 South through Edison for about 6 miles. Eventually you'll cross a very large bridge over the Raritan
River. (At that point you're about five minutes from your destination.)
Take the first exit after the bridge to get onto Route 18 North. When the ramp connects with Rte. 18 you'll have
the choice of going straight onto Rte. 18 (which you want to do--no merge is necessary to get onto Route 18) or immediately
exiting again (which you don't want to do).
On Route 18 north, almost immediately, you'll come to a light (at Paulus Blvd.) Go "straight"
through this light.
Take the first exit (on the right) past Paulus Blvd. The signs will say "George Street" and "Rte 172".

4) From points northwest (via I-287 and River Rd.)
Heading southbound on Interstate 287, take exit 9. (River Road in Piscataway Township) The exit ramp T's into River Road.
Turn Right onto River Road. Go about six miles on River Road to Route 18. (Route 18 is just a block past
the light at the intersection with Landing Lane.)
Turn Right (onto ramp) onto Route 18 South and cross over the Raritan River on the John Lynch Bridge. As you pass
Rutgers campus, you'll drive underneath a long overhanging structure.
This is where things get messy. There is quite a lot of construction along this stretch of road. The road
you need to turn (right) onto is Commercial Avenue, which is not quite a mile past that overhang area. There used to
be a Gulf station on that corner (if you pass an Exxon you've gone too far); there used to be a light there as well.
It might still be there--it would be the first light you'd come to once you crossed the Raritan. Unfortunately you can't
count on it either. Commercial Ave. also was the second exit possible after you pass that overhang area (the first exit
is (or was?) Burnet Street, which you would pass fairly quickly after the overhang area).
Turn right onto Commercial Avenue. Go (uphill) about two blocks to the first light--George Street.
Turn left onto George Street. Go about a quarter mile to the first light--Nichol Avenue.
Turn Right onto Nichol Avenue.

5) From the Plainfield Area
Exit Route 22 (or Route 28, or Seventh Avenue, depending on what's convenient) onto Washington Avenue (Route 529--it
may be North- South- or just Washington Ave. depending on where you get on, but never mind.) Southbound. After about
two miles, you'll drive past a Walgreens on the right (at Vail st) and a block later go over an overpass (over the
New Market Lake and freight train tracks). Just over the the overpass you'll come to a light (Lakeview Road).
Turn right at light onto Lakeview. Go two blocks to the first light (at Stelton Road). Turn left onto Stelton
Road. Go about half a mile down Stelton to the first light (at Old New Brunswick Road). Turn Right onto Old New
Brunswick Road.
Take this road for about five miles into New Brunswick. Note that the road changes name a couple times: When
you cross Centennial Avenue it becomes Hoes Lane which, a few miles later, becomes Route 18 southbound.
On Route 18 South, you'll cross the Raritan River on the John Lynch Bridge. As you pass Rutgers' main campus you'll drive
underneath a long overhanging structure.
This is where things get messy. There is quite a lot of construction along this stretch of road. The road
you need to turn (right) onto is Commercial Avenue, which is not quite a mile past that overhang area. There used to

Turn Right onto Nichol Avenue.
