The Well-Heeled Dog was founded in West Hollywood, CA by Susan Isaacs, CPDT-KA.  Susan is formally trained and certified in dog obedience and behavior modification work by the Balu Academy for Dog Trainers, accredited by the CA Dept. of Consumer Affairs' Bureau of Private Post-Secondary Vocational Education (BPPVE). 

Over the years, she has incorporated various techniques from many other respected trainers. She continues to advance her knowledge by attending workshops, subscribing to industry publications and reading books of note by other training and behavior experts in the field. She tailors training techniques to the individual dog and owner, utilizing insight into both humans and canines.

 

With a Masters degree in Human Resource Management from Cornell University, Susan has the clear advantage of over 15 years in the corporate world coaching executives and employees to be better at their jobs and in their work relationships.  She has that unique combination:  a concrete understanding of human, as well as canine, behavior and psychology.  A firm believer in gentle but not permissive methods, she may use clicker training, targeting and other dog-friendly ways of creating desired behaviors.

Susan is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and the Southern California Dog Trainers' Forum; she is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator; and she has volunteered many hours of service to the spca/LA.  She gives frequent talks on Kids,Dogs & Safety as well as Selecting for Success When Choosing a Dog.
