My parents gave me the gift of my eyesight for my 41st
birthday a truly wonderful gift Thank you so much, Daddy and Mama!!! I love
you both so very much and cant thank you enough for this wonderful present!!!
This page is the chronicle of my LASIK laser surgery
through the Pepose Vision Institute
at 16216 Baxter Road, in Chesterfield, Missouri. I'll be updating this regularly to let
you know how my vision is progressing. See my LASIK
diary for the down and dirty about the surgery and how I'm doing.

This site is not meant to be a tutorial on LASIK - rather,
it is my experience with this surgery to reduce or eliminate the need for corrective
lenses for my near-sightedness. For more information on LASIK, you might want to try
this link:
Kitty's LASIK Page
I found Kitty's page to be the best of the bunch, with links to all
kinds of LASIK resources!
If you're looking for a 'professional' site that contains all of the latest information
on LASIK and other laser procedures, try this one:
www.americaneye.com
If you're thinking of having LASIK surgery, I suggest the
following:
- Plan on sleeping plenty after the surgery - resting your eyes by
sleeping really makes a big difference. Don't stay up late. Get to bed early!
- Use the eye drops, but remember - wait at least 5 minutes between
the two types of drops. I forgot about this ONCE. If you put both types of
drops in your eyes at the same time, they will burn like the dickens!!!
- Use plain old celephane tape to hold the eye shields on at night
during that first week. I really don't recommend using medical tape - it's really
hard to get off and leaves a very nasty residue that can be irritating and difficult to
get off.
- Take a blank video tape with you to the surgery and ask them to
tape it for you. Even if you're a bit squeamish, you or someone else you know might
find it interesting to watch (Check out my pictures!). You'll get a 'doctors eye view' of the surgery as seen through
the microscope he looks through. Absolutely incredible!!!
- In most cases, they will allow someone in with you during the
surgery, so if the person that takes you to the clinic wants to watch, ask!
