She was named for three brothers; Jack E. Rogers Jr., Charles E. Rogers, and Edwin K. Rogers killed in action onboard USS New Orleans (CA-32) during the Battle of Tassafaronga in the Solomon Islands on 30 November 1942,

Laid down by Consolidated Steel,Orange Texas. June 3 1944. Launched November 20 1944 and commissioned March 26 1945.Decommissioned March 1981.To South Korea July 25 1981, renamed ROKS Jeong Ju DD-925.Decommissioned Dec 31 1999.Museum ship at SapKoyohp National Sightseeing Resort, located at Dangjin-Gun, Chung Nam Province .
