One of the goals of the club is to ensure that no fish is killed simply because the owner didn't do their research beforehand. Often, fishkeepers buy fish that grow too large for their tanks or are incompatable with other fish in their tanks.

These fish are often killed, or released into the wild where they do even more damage to the ecosystem.
