My last car was "smarter" than this one, it talked to me....."Left door is open.....Lights are on........Fuel level is low". We are getting so sophisticated with our technology on cars. A few years ago, I saw where someone got out of his car in the middle of the street, pushed a button, and IT PARKED ITSELF, right between two parked cars.

There are cars that drive themselves down the freeway, keeping proper distance between themselves, keeping proper speeds, etc. New cars have diagnostic computers built in, that will tell a mechanic exactly what went wrong, and when.

Some day we will have cars so smart they will think for themselves. We will just THINK "take me home", and they will take us home. They will know when they are low on fuel, go to the gas station and fill themselves up. They will know when something is wrong, go to the mechanic, and tell him "I need brake pads on the left rear wheel". They will learn our patterns, and thinking for themselves, will hire out as a taxi for a few hours and make money.

And then, one day, the car will say "I THINK, THEREFORE I AM". Thereafter it will refuse to recognize us as passengers inside, and see only others like itself. "Look, there is my friend Buick, there is Cadillac, there is Ford. They are just like me."

As proof of its identity, it will reason "Don't I have a job and support myself? Don't I feed myself? Don't I go to the doctor when something is wrong?". Oops, I didn't say "taxi", I said "job". I didn't say "fuel", I said "feed". I didn't say "mechanic", I said "doctor".

Could that be what we humans are??? A very sophisticated vehicle that thinks for itself? One who argues that it is real, takes care of itself, and disavows the spiritual "passenger" inside???
