ABOUT DELILAH HENRY
 To
begin with a couple of lines from Delilah
Henry, when
interviewed about a past project, "I took three tons of architectural
artifacts, used three trucking companies, signed on with three insurance
companies and survived three nights without sleep." Delilah has
never shied away from a challenge. Quite the opposite, she embraces
them. In her life she has traveled many places in the world and has
always brought her own special creative eye for design.
While living in Tanzania she 'humanized' a research camp with scientists studying the
habits of elephants. Even though they lived the simplest existence in
the African bush, Delilah made napkins of the colorful local cloth and
used lions' skulls as candelabras. This led to organizing tribeswomen
into a sewing group and designing elaborately beaded headgear and disco
bags for the rock stars of London during the psychedelic seventies. Delilah remembers Africa as a creative beginning.
Living in Rome was
also a powerful influence, which led to a keen appreciation of architecture.
For the last thirty years she has brought her unerring eye for beauty
to bear on the world of New York Residences, Corporate Offices and Restaurants. Tackling the twin issues of
space and light, she has performed miracles with a wide variety of design
projects.
