I do a lot of word processing, and I have tried (and own) a great many word processors, including WordStar, Word Pro, StarOffice, Describe, Word, Windows Write, and various versions of WordPerfect. The one I like best of all is WordPerfect, and the best version of WordPerfect (to me) is WordPerfect 6.x for DOS. When I have real work to do, I always go back to that one.
WPDOS 6.x is almost an office suite in itself; not only is it a full-featured WYSIWYG word processor, but its table, merge, and macro functions fill any need I might have for a spreadsheet and database. With the aid of a macro, I even wrote several of these pages with it.
Unfortunately, Corel has failed to continue to update this awesome program, and has also failed to release the source code... so WPDOS doesn't recognize many newer file formats. Would that someone would at least write updated file filters for those of us who won't part with a tool that works so well and so efficiently.
