Custom Rave Trailer
trlr_side2.jpg

This Rave custom trailer is beefier than the stock trailer. It's galvanized with a winch for the mast that allows one person setup. To launch and recover the Rave, the boat can be compleletly raised on it's foils and the trailer can be backed underneath the boat. Once the trailer is beneath the boat, the Rave can be lowered onto the trailer by raising the foils. It's simple to launch and recover.

This trailer's lights, tires, wheels, bearings, and hubs have been very well maintained. The last thing I wanted was to be one of those people on the side of an interstate with a busted part. The springs are rusty but I think they are quite serviceable. There is a full size spare tire.

The tires are Titan ST Sport Trax, 20.5x8.0-10 with Bearing Buddies on the hubs.

Since these pics were taken I've added white plastic fenders.  Those fenders are shown in an updated shot below.

Ama flange bolts to the top of the trailer ama support tube

The amas, the outer hulls, swing down from the vertical position into a horizontal position that allows the beam and ama to be slipped from the swing post and onto the flange located on the main beam on the central hull. Assembly is not difficult but a little more complicated than for a typical catamaran.

Ama Support Tube

A closeup of the trailer's ama support tube. The ama's tube fits over this tube on the trailer and the ama's flange is bolted to the support tube assembly. The tube shown here pivots down, with the ama slipped over it, when the ama is to be removed for bolting to the boat's main beam, or when reloading the boat.

When reloading the boat the ama is slipped over this tube in the horizontal position and the ama is lifted up to the vertical position for trailering as shown in the photo at the top of this page. I weigh 145 lbs and have no trouble lifting or lowering the ama off the tube.

An updated shot of the fenders with mudflaps is shown below.

In the photo above, behind and forward of the fender you can see the mast crutch used for stepping the mast stored on the trailer.
