Oh yes, I've been to Southern California. And it was good. Check out the photos and video.

My mom googled her name for the first time today, and she told me that the fourth entry that came up was a link to this blog... and that was only because of the previous entry, where I talk about my friend Rachel's wedding. So, now I'll help Mom's google hits out:
RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT! RACHAEL ZANDT!
Whew. Glad we got THAT out of our systems! On to the next order of business:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POP! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POP! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POP! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POP! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POP! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POP! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POP! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POP! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POP! It's nearly the end of summer, and I've been keeping busy. BUSYBUSYBUSY. BUSY! (I drank caffeine a bit too late tonight, and now I'm all wiiiiiiired.)

I'm working on some cool stuff for AlterNet, and blogging there just about every day. II'm also now working for Jim Hightower and the Hightower Lowdown, doing a huge web overhaul project and launching a super-secret coprorate responsibility project in a few months. I got hired out last weekend by Free Speech TV to produce a short spot on the Howl Festival, which I didn't work for this year, but attended in grand style. Oh, I also turned 30, went to Hawaii for DebPunDiscoe's wedding, and went upstate for my yearly family reunion (haven't uploaded pics yet).

This weekend coming up is Rachel's wedding, which promises to be the most stellar night of the entire year. I'm the maid of (dis)honor, and we're in full on rockstar-panic here at Wedding Central. It's actually kind of a nice buzz.

Oh, the neighborhood blog moved. Read the LES Bridge Mix here.

Anything else?

I've got a photostream on Flickr which I enjoy thoroughly.

I haven't written many poems lately, at least not ones worthy of posting.

I'm praying for the folks in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. My brother used to live in Biloxi, and I remember watching hurricane season like a hawk. The big one finally hit.

I'm also praying for the lady that sold me my cowboy boots, because it was part of our deal. Look for a pic of her next week in the stream.

Uh-oh... it's been 5 months since I've updated this... again. Sorry. To quote Inigo Montoya: "Lemme 'splain... no, there is too much. Lemme sum up."
  • I'm still working for AlterNet. This is a very nice job. I've been working on a bunch of projects there, including an amazing online video distribution thingie which will be unveiled this weekend; plus the book I wrangled the manuscript for finally came out: Start Making Sense. YAY.
  • I'm no longer working for the Bowery Poetry Club. This was also a very nice job, but ultimately, my little brain was stretched way too hard covering all my worlds.
  • I quit smoking! For real! I swear ta Gahd!
  • I've been helping Not An Alternative kick some ass over in Brooklyn.
  • I'm helping the lovely Rebecca Moore start LOCO -- the Ludlow Orchard Community Organization.
  • I started a new blog with my neighborhood tribe: the LES Bridge Mix.
I am so freakin' happy that Spring is finally here. Let the games begin!

Interesting bit of Deanna Trivia, btw... aka, "How Everyone Else's Important Events Relate to Me..." I'm going to a wedding on every single holiday this summer. Baly + Craig are on Memorial Day, Deb + Ben are on July 4, and Rachel + Jeremy are on Labor Day! Hilarious.

Oh, and I'm turning thirty in 3 months, 5 days. Lawdy!

Oh! Hello!

Happy New Year... uh... 23 days late. As usual, I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off, but it's all for the greater good. Ya know.

Working at Bowery Poetry on a bunch of new PR stuff, plus doing development for the non-profit, Bowery Arts & Science. We've got an article coming out on Wednesday in Time Out New York, penned by my friend Justin Silverman, about our new Study Abroad on the Bowery program. Very, very cool stuff.

I'm also working on this phenomenal media research project for AlterNet, and am the manuscript wrangler for a new book coming out in a few months called Start Making Sense. All combined, it's the most exciting political work I've done in a while... very big-picture, and insanely ground-breaking.

Then there's the Not An Alternative crew, who will soon be launching the gallery space out in W'burgh, and I can't WAIT to throw down for that shindig. The most amazing poli-arts crew in the world scores another hit, y'all.

I'm also working on a project called Prayer for Peace with David Murphy, aka, "I Drank the Kool-Aid and Now I'm Rain Man." He also does incredible body-centered therapy called Hellerwork, so if you need to reintegrate your mind/spirit/body, you just give him a yell.

On the personal side of things... went to a bunch of fab parties over past few weeks... one for the housewarming of the Annexxx (the David/Jonny America/Winnie house), and a welcome-home-for-a-few-days for the ubiquitous former LES token Brit, Mr. Paulish. Wedding planning is officially underway for Rachel and Jeremy... previews coming soon. Deb + Ben are tyin' the knot out in Hawaii this summer, too. And I'm going to Miami next weekend to see Gina-na, Gary and my godchildren.

Life barrells and rolls through the foot of snow Ma Nature dumped on NYC this weekend!
