Blah blah blah. A lot's happened since that last post... January 18th, my goodness... that was over two months ago. A world moves in a minute.

First of all, I moved. Luckily, it's only five blocks from my old apartment (LES all the way!), and it's cheaper. And it came with the package deal of a kick-ass roommate, the world-renowned Jennie. Neither one of us watches very much TV, and the other night, we got sucked into it hardcore. We watched America's Top Model, Blind Date, some bad news program, cable access, and more. I'm telling you this because Jennie said the most classic thing I've heard in a while: "This show rocks. What can we eat?" TV is evil. And I love my roommate.

Next, I quit my day job. Yep, I am now a full-time Starving Artist / Political Activist. Awwwww yeah... I says to my friends, I says, "Ya know what? Down with the Man! Down with paying 'rent!' Down with 'health insurance!' That's just the Man trying to OPPRESS ME!" Tee hee hee.

Seriously, these are my new jobs:

1.) I'm the Administrator/Whipmistress at the Bowery Poetry Club now. This means I do whatever no one else wants to do or can do. I work for the ubiquitous Bob Holman, who also happens to be in my famous group of Favorite People on Earth. I love this job. I love the people that work there. I love the performances we have. Also, I'm drunk with power. Muwahahaha.

2.) I'm the Political Events coordinator for this year's Howl Festival. This means, now, two things: I'm planning a big anti-RNC event with a bunch of other rockin' dissenters, and facilitating the coordination (I kid you not, that's really how I need to explain it) of other political events. Basically, it's my job to invite people from the 'hood to perform their thang in order to help get Bush out of office.

3.) I'm developing a progressive action network website being funded and directed by some really, really amazing folks. I'll let yas know when it's launched, fer sure. It's gonna be hot.

So, those are the paying gigs. I'm working my ass off but the upsides of not having a steady income are: I get to sleep a lot more than I have been (4 hours a night for the past four - six months is no good), do my laundry more than once every six weeks, clean my apartment more than every 6 months, hang out with my other starving artist friends, work on my poetry, read the stack of books that's collected over the past six months, and talk to my Grandma. It's pretty cool so far. Yay me.
