YAYYYYY!
two unbeLIEVably cool things happened today:
1.) i was chosen by the photo editors at The Onion for a photo shoot... my lifelong dream of becoming an Area Woman has come true!
2.) i got re-strung my guitar, and after five years of not playing a damn thing, i am re-learning how to play. yippie!
this past weekend i went to adam's wedding with james, and i had an absolute riot. this was by far my favorite wedding of all time. crazy cross-culturalness, a little beast of a snowstorm, brain disassembling, the trippy motel james and i stayed at, and getting lost on the way home just added to the anything-goes vibe of the weekend. it was crazymadphatwickedexcellent. i can't even begin to go into any amount of detail, just go with the fact that i was completely at peace with the universe this weekend. wahoo!

i tried to buy my first eBook today, being the half-ass technophile that i am. i'm writing this while being on hold with Barnes and Noble.
i couldn't download the book, because of some unknown error, and all i have to say it's that it's incredibly comforting to have your customer service rep say to you, "you, uh, tried to buy one o' them there, Adobe thingies there?"
yes. one of them there Adobe thingies there.
"oh. i think i'm going to have to transfer you."
(luckily i find these situations actually pretty entertaining, so... i started giggling.)
the next guy in "technical" support was pretty funny too. i use the word "technical" loosely and quotes around it for the reason that i kept explaining to him what the problem was (our firewall doesn't allow any traffic other than HTTP/port 8080), and he kept saying things like, "didja try copying and pasting the URL instead of clicking on the links in the email?" he repeated the same thing about 6 times--"i'm going to have to fill out a support request for ya"-- but was just so gosh darn nice about it, i couldn't get annoyed. ah, the perils of online shopping.

i was doing some career-type research the other night and dug out my Myers-Briggs test that my cousin Jen gave me last year. she's an HR director, and she said that finding out my Keirsey temperament would help me establish goals for myself, and though i'm happily goal-less, i figure it's a new year and i should really get... like... y'know... a plan and stuff. my personality type is an ENTP (extrovert, intuitive, thinking, perceiving). it's a fun type to be, in my opinion. we're pretty stress-free people who love to live life. what more could i ask for?
here are some careers that are supposed to be good for people like me:
- Lawyers [no thank you]
- Psychologists [i have too many issues on my own]
- Entrepreneurs [hmmm, could be]
- Photographers [hey, i do filmmaking!]
- Consultants [doing that now]
- Engineers [i wanted to be a civil engineer at 14]
- Scientists [mmmm, not-so-much]
- Actors [moi?! actress?!? noooo...]
- Sales Representatives [did that]
- Marketing Personnel [did that]
- Computer Programmer, Systems Analyst, or Computer Specialist [am that]
so... hm. entrepreneur. i'm an enterprising young lady. now i just have to figure out what i want to... entrepreneur.
the other funny thing about my profile is that as far as relationships go, my most suitable match is an INFJ (introvert, intuitive, feeling, judging). they sound like lovely people indeed (i was reading through their profile and yelling, "YES! EXACTLY!"), but there's only one problem: it's the most rare personality type. only one percent of the population has it. one lousy freakin' percent. and i have to weed through the other 99 to find them.
know any INFJs? ;-)
