Thanks to whoever designed this bumpersticker. Oregon shows always had that "special" feel.
Welcome to the home of the Eugene Area Traders Group. Our web presence attempts to carry on the spirit that the Dead scene brought to each of us and to Oregon.
Here you'll find an archive of memorabilia, news articles and images from Oregon and the Northwest as well as links to each of the traders in our informal group. When you are at the Trader Page, you'll find lists and e-mail addresses so that we can share what we got of ours and maybe share some of yours.
Please report any difficulties by e-mail.
This site is going through some "re-growing" pains. It's already been moved from two servers at the University of Oregon to the present home here at earthlink. I've since moved to Hawaii abd am doing my best to keep it updated from here. Please let me know if you find any broken links or problems via e-mail.
It would also be appreciated if you help spread the location of this site to other folks you think might be interested, especially those who have outdated links. Many of the search engines are not finding this location and continue to point to The UofO servers.
Before we go on - take the time to read what Taper Tuesday is all abut in the welcome message from Jeff Harrison.
Jeff (read more about him in the trader group info & tape lists section) was the primary force behind "Taper Tuesday" at Chez Ray's in Eugene. (The Register Guard ran an article about it and since they no longer have it available on their site, you can read it here.)
Unfortunately, Chez Ray had to close the business and the group has since found a new home at Tiny's Tavern.
Tuesday Tapers can use this Eugene Trader website as a place to post their lists and contact one another. More info is available at taper Tuesday. Keep in mind that Tuesday tapers can provide links to their lists at etree or other servers at this site.
Tim Silven, of Crystal Image Photography, is sharing a number of his prized Oregon Dead photos with us. Tim photographed the Dead since the early 70's (some of his work appears in Deadbase II and the Dead Family Album) and also interviewed Jerry for KIQY-FM when we worked there together in the early 80's. Tim has also jammed with Jorma and played in a band with Tim Gorman (of the Starship and also one of the 2 "finalists" for the Dead's keyboard slot after Brent passed away).
Tim provided rare photos from Jerry's show at South Eugene High School ('82), Jerry at the JGB performance in Portland ('76), Seattle Dead ('79), Portland Dead ('77 & '79). You'll find them in the archives section of our site.
The closest that The Other Ones first tour came to Oregon was Shoreline. Here's a link to some pictures of the show for you.
If anyone can contribute any photos of the NW shows at the Gorge or any other NW or Hawaiian Dead memorabilia for our archives, please get in touch.
And finally, now that I'm living on Maui, I'm also looking to expand this site to include Maui and other Hawaiian Dead traders. If you are a tape/CD trader and live in the Hawaiian Islands, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We'll take this thing Pan-Pacific yet.
