2nd Richmond/Tidewater
alumni event at a Richmond Braves Baseball game planned for August 21th,
4pm game vs Durham Bulls, followed by a smoker-like event at VCU. Open to ALL
SINFONIANS! A second event at a Richmond
Braves game has been planned for August 21st,
2004. It is a 4pm start vs the
Durham Bulls, a Tampa Bay Devil Rays affiliate. Adult general admission
ticket price is $6, which includes the entire section under the roof of the
stadium. There will be tailgating starting at 2pm, led by Darryl “Chef” Badley,
Delta Sigma, badleyd@hotmail.com. Afterward, Darryl has a smoker-like event planned for VCU,
in an attempt to garner interesting rechartering Rho Omega. Darryl is lead
contact for this 2nd event. All Sinfonians are welcome. There is
the hope that this event could be a precursor to the real NE regional planned
for Spring 2005 in Province 18. Brothers gather at July 24th
Richmond Braves game! July 24th, 2004, saw 4 brothers gather for the Richmond Braves doubleheader with the Indianapolis Indians. It was a good event that was, at once, both a family and Sinfonian event. The teams played through a light rain, and offense was plentiful. For the ticket price of $6, it can’t be beat. |
Join our mailing list! Presenting the Richmondsinfonia yahoogroup! Richmond/Tidewater, Virginia Sinfonia Yahoogroup: This is our mailing list. It is open to any interested Sinfonian. You can join or leave the list by clicking on the link. There are other useful tools on the web portion for once we get that far along. Right now, it is a way to manage a mailing list of those interested Sinfonians in the greater Richmond/Central Virginia and Tidewater, Virginia areas. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/richmondsinfonia/join/ ALUMNI GATHERING AT THE PROVINCE 18
WORKSHOP – November 22, 2003 17 Brothers had dinner at Macado’s Restaurant in Farmville, Virginia, in conjunction with the Province 18 Workshop, which was hosted by the Mu Delta Chapter of Longwood University. Although the dinner conversation did not circle around alumni affairs, it followed two successful round-table discussions on alumni relations & associations. Brothers Jeff Schaefer and Rob McKeever (DCAAA Vice President & President) led the two discussions. |

Help keep the fraternity’s database
up to date! Update your address with the national headquarters! Never done it before? It’s even easier now than ever on the Sinfonia.org website! Go to: http://www.sinfonia.org/newuser.asp, and if you know your member number, all you need is your birthdate to set it up, otherwise, it will let you search for your member number using your last name and school of initiation to complete the process. Brothers who have logged in before can return to http://www.sinfonia.org or http://www.lyrecrest.net to login. Both addresses now point to the same main page. Any old bookmarks to the lyrecrest.net/mydesktop link no longer work. Using this simple tool can save the fraternity (both national and locally) the expense of undeliverable mail and the return postage, and makes it easier for chapters, associations, and others doing fraternal mailings to keep Joe Sinfonian informed. Mailing postponed… Brother McKeever had planned to put a postcard-size mailing to the Richmond/Tidewater area early this year to advertise the Richmond Braves event next summer, and this website & yahoogroup. Unlike those already subscribed to the yahoogroup, this will also hit those brothers who do not currently have an email address on file in the national database. Unfortunately, it has been delayed due to other events in his life. |
Information on Province 18 Richmond and the Tidewater area lie within the portion of Virginia that belongs to Province 18, whose new Governor is Dave Davis, Nu Sigma pg18@sinfonia.org. Richmond at one time had chapters at University of Richmond (Theta Beta) and Virginia Commonwealth (Rho Omega), but the closest active collegiate chapter is Longwood University (Mu Delta) in Farmville, along with William & Mary (Nu Sigma), Christopher Newport (Omicron Nu) and Hampton (Pi Beta) in the Tidewater area. The other active chapters in 18 are Gamma Alpha of JMU and Xi Theta of Radford, and there is an active colony at Norfolk State (Virginia Delta). The only other chapter in Virginia is Nu Psi at Shenandoah University in Winchester, but it currently falls within the boundary of Province 27. province18@sinfonia.org is province 18 listserv. |
