The DCAAA was not the first
Alumni organization of Sinfonia in the Washington, D.C. Area. We were preceded
by the Washington, D.C. Professional Chapter, founded in 1974 and lasting until
about 1982. Thirteen alumni that were
members of this chapter are still alive, and a few still reside in the DC area,
though none are currently active with the Association.
The Professional Chapter
initiated one member, a Michael Wheeler, on March 20, 1976. The chapter received a matching grant from
the Sinfonia Foundation in 1977, for the Washington DC Sinfonia Performance
Competition Concert Series, $200.00.
