August 3, 1997 - Mt. Baden Powell

The climb to Mt. Baden Powel was a thrill at first.  It looked as if it were a mile high.  In which case it was a mile high, but not a mile trip.  The total mileage round trip was about 8.  Going up the first two miles was a blast, then came the two miles to the summit, which were treacherous.  Then we reached the summit.  We had lunch, played on the monument, and had some of what I call passing hat ( gas, everyone on these trips gets it).  Coming down was fast, about an hour quicker than we did going up, which was about two and a half  hours.  The way up was hot, down it was cool and started to rain aways away, but it just missed us.
