To Scouts and Parents:

In order to make the scouting experience more valuable or "to get the most out of your scouting investment" I have the following recommendations: This applies to scouts, scouters, and for parents' information.

Number 1 - ATTENDANCE - GO TO THE MEETINGS.  A scout is LOYAL!  LOYAL to your troop.  While every meeting may not be the most exciting event, most of the time scouts will walk away with a least one (1) item of interest.  Most likely a lot more.  All troop events are discussed at the meeting.  You can't participate if you don't know what is going on.

Number 2 - PARTICIPATION - DO SOMETHING - DON'T SIT AROUND.  Each meeting has discussions, classes, games, rank advancement, etc.  You cannot move forward if you just sit still.  The challenge for the leaders is to get the Scouts to participate!

Number 3 - UNIFORM - WEAR IT PROUD, WEAR IT ALL.  We show our pride and commitment to scouting by wearing the uniform.  The Senior Patrol Leader and Youth leaders as well as Adults need to wear the uniform at each meeting.  Even if it just the Class "A" Shirt.

Number 4 - ADVANCEMENT - MOVE ALONG THE TRAIL TO EAGLE. That is up to the scout with guidance from the troop leadership.

Number 5 - SCOUT SPIRIT - OUR TROOP MOTTO FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS IS "S.A.S.S. IN 97" SERIOUS ABOUT SCOUT SPIRIT, SERVICE.

Have fun!

OUTDOOR CODE

As an American, I will do my best to:

Be clean in my outdoor manners.  I will treat the outdoors as a heritage.  I will take care of it for myself and others.  I will keep my trash and garbage out of lakes, streams, fields, woods, and roadways.

Be careful with fire.  I will prevent wildfire. I will build my fires only where they are appropriate.  When I have finished using a fire, I will make sure it is "cold out". I will leave a clean fire ring, or remove all evidence of my fire.

Be considerate in the outdoors.  I will treat public and private property with respect.  I will use low-impact methods of hiking and camping.

Be conservation minded.  I will learn how to practice good conservation of soil, waters, forests, minerals, grasslands, wildlife and energy.  I will urge others to do the same.
