Director, Producer, Writer
of Television Documentaries

Collector of:

In 1998, after 25 years in television news and related fields, I made the move to full-time documentary production. I have written, produced and directed numerous hourlong programs for History Channel, The Nashville Network, HGTV, MSNBC and the Travel Channel. For a complete list of my credits and airtimes, click here.

One of the more interesting shows I have directed was an episode of CIVIL WAR COMBAT , in which we staged the Battle of the Crater at Petersburg.

The photo above shows our setup for shooting the aftermath of the battle, which occurred in the summer of 1864. For a more-detailed look at behind-the-scene photos, click here.

.

For another episode of the same series, I was on the set at Lady Farm in Gettysburg, PA, where we shot another episode of CIVIL WAR COMBAT re-enacting the Battle of Bull run (or First Manassas). A collection of photos is available by clicking here.

LIFE OUTSIDE WORK:

As a typewriter collector and historian, I appeared at the 1989 opening of the now-defunct National Office Equipment Historical Museum in Kansas City (photo above). I was asked to deliver a speech. I did. And now the museum is gone. Go figure.
.
From 1987-1999, I edited and published ETCetera, journal of the Early Typewriter Collectors Association, which I helped found.
.
At the beginning of 1996, I created "The QWERTY Connection," my first Web page. A whole set of related pages follow.
.
My book "ANTIQUE TYPEWRITERS AND OFFICE COLLECTIBLES" came out in August, 1997. Punch the link to take a look.
.
I am also slightly obsessed by drinking good quality coffee. To reach that particular nirvana, I roast my own green coffee beans at home.
