--Folding Corona typewriter, 1910-40

We call it the "Folding Corona"... because it FOLDS! Want to see how? Look at this picture:
-- pretty good, huh?

The Folding Corona began life in 1907 as the Standard Folding Typewriter, an older looking typewriter, with an aluminum frame--but basically the same machine. The company changed the name to Corona in 1910, and a typewriter legend was born. 700,000 were made in all from 1910 to 1940. Some were painted bright colors. All were made to be kept in their cases... one of the reasons why so many have survived in such good condition.

The Folding Corona is sometimes called the Corona 3, which was its original model number (No. 1 & 2 were models of the Standard Folding). It is one of the most-common collectible typewriters, found at flea markets everywhere.
