Coach Pike Comments:
Our team depth continues to be impressive as we were competitive in every event, nearly scoring in most events. For example, the shuttle hurdle team improved by 3 seconds over last year and ran a time that would have been fast enough to score in past years. The Distance medley(800-400-1200-1600), led by a 1:57 800 split by Wilfredo Villaroel, finished 7th, just out of the points. Chris Pike popped 2 throws over 48' in the shot as he teamed up with Brian Byrnes to score in both the shot and discus. The sprint relay team, this week featuring Kyle Percival, Rasheed Lawal, Dante Adams, Justin Boyd set another Hastings Relay record in the 4x100 with a time of 43.4. Our performances across the board were phenomenal. To put our performances in perspective, our 4x100 relay time, 4x200 relay time, and Wilfredo's 800 split were all fast enough to place in the top 3 at last year's state finals!
