What do I need?
Completed On-line signup form
Physical
A Physical for this school year must be on file with Rich Kieft, Waverly's Athletic Trainer. If you have been in a fall or winter school sport this year, one should be already be on file.
Training shoes
Invest in a good pair, your shins, knees and ankles depend on it. You'll be running in your trainers 95% of the time.
WARM Clothes
Sweatshirt
Sweatpants
Hat/gloves
Early season Michigan weather can be COLD! Your muscles function best when warm and you risk injury if you are not appropriately attired. You must wear sweats or warmups to practice.
Black spandex track tights can be worn under the official uniform during competition
Track Spikes
Great to have, especially if you're a sprinter or jumper.

Will I be Varsity or
JV?
Yes. You may be both. Only four athletes in each event can compete at the varsity level in a dual meet, but additional non-scoring JV heats will be run. It is possible to compete in an event or two to score points in the varsity meet and run different events in the JV heats the same day.

What does it
take to be successful? GET it!
Goals
High expectations create high achievement.
Without goals, your hard work will seem difficult and pointless.
Effort
Attend every practice, ready to do your best for that day.
Teamwork
You can't run the workouts, run the relays, or win the meets by yourself. You need your teammates to be the best you can be.
