Coach Pike Comments:

This meet was a great tuneup for our regional. The caliber of competition was easily on a par with the teams we will see at the regional, especially given the size and number of the schools that were competing. We finished number 1 among Division 2 schools, even finishing ahead of Division 1 GRAND LEDGE. Dre Benson had an outstanding day, winning the high jump, placing the long jump and leading off the school record 800m relay team. Michael Bailey scored in four events, the long jump, 800m Relay, 400m Relay, and the 200m Dash. Abram McCoy and Terry Tyson also scored the the sprint relays and were third and fifth in the open 100m dash. Our Distance runners had a breakthrough day with all runners in the 800, the 1600 and the 3200 establishing Personal Records(PR's). Danny Banghart moved to #6 in the 800, while Ryan Scott improved his #7 standing on the Top Ten List for the 3200. Our 4x400 Relay ran its best time of the season. Vaulters Eric Aten and Ben Meyers both placed in the vault. Ben placed despite having his pole shatter during his first attempt at 11-0. As we head into Saturday's Regional at Ionia, we seem to be peaking at the right time. We've survived some of the toughest competition in the state and will enter the regional and state finals with confidence. At the regional and state finals we will not face competition signifcanlty better than we have encountered so far Our sprinters and relays routinely run faster than the automatic state qualifying times as do our long jumpers. Our jumpers and vaulters continue to approach or meet these standards, while our distance runners are improving so rapidly they could place at the regional. Counting invitational results our overall record stands at 28 wins versus 15 losses.
