Coach Pike Comments:
What a great way to start the season! Many athletes set new
PR's as we climbed our first step on the ladder to success. Highlights
included the 4 x100 relay team's outstanding victory in a time
only 0.3 seconds from the school record and faster than the automatic
state qualifier. The 4 x 200 team of D. Adams, Kirkland, McCoy,
and Williams ran a 1:35.7, a time good enough for #8 on Coach
Pike's Top Ten. The distance guys and jumpers performed well,
establishing soild marks to build from. Courtney Scott and Pierre
Cannon both threw over 40 feet, making the Top Ten list in the
shot put and knocking assistant coach Richard Pojeta right off
the list in the proces! The 400 was a pleasant surprise with
Mike Bailey, Clevon Robertson, Dante Adams, and Alan Hensley
turning in great splits. Because of the frigid weather, the performances
turned in today give us only a hint of the potential yet to come.
