Coach Pike Comments:

This was an outstanding performance by our freshman athletes. Every athlete either medalled or set a personal record or season best. The freshmen dominated the field events with gold medals in the long jump and the high jump. Mike Adams won the long jump jumping over 18 feet. Dante Adams cleared 5-6 in the high jump using the difficult scissor technique. Chris Pike and Brian Byrnes placed second and third in the shotput with Pike also earning a medal in the discus. Matt Christian was sixth in the pole vault. In the 200 meter dash, both Dante and Mike Adams broke the meet record, taking both the gold and silver medals in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Mike Adams completed a four medal day by easily capturing the 300m hurdle gold medal. Jimmy Schneidewind had a breakthrough day in the distance races with a gold in the 800m and silver in the 1600. Our consitent improvement(PR's) and outstanding medal performances are two reasons the future is bright for Waverly Track and Field!
