Coach Pike Comments:

The 4 x 200 team crushed the old record by 8 tenths of a second and have positioned themselves well for Saturday's state championships with a time that clearly indicates that they are one of the top teams in the state. The 4x100 relay continues their incredible season, breaking the school record again. In the 800, senior Justin Sheehan ran a great tactical race setting a PR in the process. Our returning distance runners also ran some of their best performances ever. Mike Bailey and Jason Uslan both placed in the long jump with Mike's 21-5 effort catapulting him to number 3 on the Top Ten list. Cortney Scott threw 49-01, the best performance in my tenure here at Waverly. Senior Freddie Kirkland has qualified for the finals and has scored in the 100m in every major meet or invitational this season and did so once again with a fourth place finish in the 100m. Perhaps the individual highlight of the evening was the 2nd place finish of Dre Benson in the High Jump. He is aleady planning his assault on the school record for next year. This week we regroup, heal, fine tune our exchanges and technique, and prepare to showcase our team in this week's all area Honor Roll meet and State Finals.
