The Second Generation
In 1640, George Gold had purchased a property in Suchdol from his future father in law, George Schneider alongside the Orphans Court. Guy Gold who wrote a short history of the family in the 1920's states that in 1909 the property was owned by the Evangelical Congregation. “On 1 February 1645 the Farmstead (0ld #73 or #54 in 1909) was bought by George Gold for 220 thaler from George Schneider. George Gold has to pay as advance payment of 45 thaler in 3 terms. Yearly he will pay 4 thaler until the time when the amount of money will be paid. To the farmstead belongs also, a wagon with harness, 2 cows, 3 swine, 3 geese, 5 hens and 1 rooster.” The retired pervious farmer, George Schneider, stipulated for himself, “2 beds for sauerkraut, 2 apple trees, 8 small Hungarian plum trees.” After the death of George Schneider the buyer, George Gold, had to give yearly to the widow of George Schneider, “ 1 scheffel of rye, 2 viertel of wheat, 2 viertel of barley, 1 viertel of oats, 2 metz of flax seed, and 3 metz of groats.. 1 cow of hers, he will feed by his hay straw.” (THE REGIONAL ARCHIVE OF OPAVA, LAND REGISTER OF SUCHDOL A O., book e, 13-12, folio 551)
“George Gold, farmer, died on 23 May 1672 in Zauchdel, aged
