Oil Storage in Seeds
Most seeds are rich in oil. The high oil
content serves several purposes.
- Seeds need lots of energy once they
germinate in order to push through the soil and reach
sunlight
- Oils may help preserve a seed, helping it
last for years until just the right conditions are met for
germination
