Upcoming and recent performances

September 15, 2007, 8:00 PM at St. Augustine's in Santa Monica, CA, full concert, "Reculer: Avshalomov at 60-New Work." Featuring the Los Angeles Flute Orchestra, Jonna Newcomb-Carter, leader, in the premiere of a newly-commissioned nature-echoing work, Sacred Winds. Plus a HUGE romantic new work for piano sextet, Trotsky's Train, reflecting on the tragedy of the Russian Revolution, with Juilliard-trained pianist Pamela Pyle and the Denali String Quartet. Bunny Thornburgh will sing the composer's "Songs of Life" (on Dickinson poems) with Ms. Pyle and guest musicians. The composer will also sing one of his Apocalyptic Songs. December 2007, O Eucari (columba), Hymn to St. Eucari on text of Hildegarde von Bingen, for mixed chorus divisi. Commissioned by Goncalo Lourenco for his Coro Odyssea of Lisbon, world premiere and recording. Details to be announced.

May 27, 2007, I Bend the Knee of My Heart, Cantori Domino, Maurita Phillips-Thornburgh, director, St. Augustine's-by-the-Sea, 4th Street between Wilshire and Arizona, Santa Monica, CA. 4:00 PM. Tickets at the door, paid parking in public structure. Featured work on the program: Brahms German Requiem sung in English. Also works by Kenneth Neufeld.

Valentine's Day, 2007, Love & Chocolate, Valentine's version of "The Chocolate Carol," Jacksonville (Florida) Masterworks Chorale, Dr. Mark Stallings, director. First performance.

January 27, 2007, vocal recital by the composer, including selections from Songs of Life/Death, plus You Can't Have it All, Goodnight Moon. Also: selections from Songs of Innocence and of Experience including two premieres, with soprano Rene Burkett, mezzo Belinda Wilkins, tenor Jeremy Schoenberg, pianist Greg Schreiner.
