There are quite a number of free electronic mailing lists that deal with homeschooling issues, in fact there are far too many to list here. Jon's Home School Resource Page has a great deal of descriptions and instructions for signing up to them.
Essentially an electronic version of a bulletin board, a newsgroup allows for discussion on any number of topics. One can post a message and expect replies within a couple of days.
