From Bruce's colleagues at Procter & Gamble:
To the Perry family,We had a luncheon to gather together Bruce's past and present friends and colleagues. Everyone is still very shocked and saddened at Bruce's loss, but we found some support in sharing the many ways Bruce has touched our lives. When I talked with Brenda she suggested that you might be interested in some of the reflections people had - so I've attached some of them for you to know how deeply loved Bruce was by all who worked with him over the past 14 years here at Procter & Gamble. We will have more memories, photos and momentos to share in a memory book we are assembling. We also hope to be able to provide some ongoing support for Lisa and the boys. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you all. With deepest sympathy, Susan Bevan Baggott
ReflectionsI feel privileged to have known Bruce. I really valued having him on my leadership team and as a key influencer in my department. Bruce was so obviously a strong, talented, values-driven individual. He cared so much about the people around him - his family, his friends and his colleagues. He contributed so much of himself to his business projects and to the people in his organization. He faced challenges with such a positive,"can do" approach. He offered such fresh, practical perspective on our work and was so open to learning and growing each day. He was devoted to finding new and better ways to achieve our goals and to developing a culture that could transcend organizational barriers. I will miss Bruce's talents, vitality and warmth. We will strive to keep his spirit alive as we move forward. A friend to everyone. A genuinely "good" guy. A pleasure to work with. Always interested in the people around him. Easy to talk to. Patient and understanding. Volunteered to be space coordinator so he could meet new people. Always took whatever time necessary to explain things. Would rather talk to someone personally than leave a message on their machine. Liked to make people laugh. Was easy to make him laugh. Interested and concerned about people he didn't work with. Was the first person I met when I came to P&G, and because of him, I decided to stay. The one thing that I keep hearing over and over from folks here at P&G since learning the tragic news about Bruce is how he always went out of his way: to get things done, to help a co-worker or a friend, to move a project forward, etc. I too benefited from his taking the time to go out of his way to welcome me back after being on disability for 5 weeks. I'd just met him in February when he joined our department. I was not a part of his section, and yet he thought enough about me as a department member that he came and sought me out and inquired about my health and wished me well. It meant a lot to me then and even more to me now. P&G has truly lost a wonderful manager and the world has lost a truly wonderful human being. Constantly looking out for other people. I've consider it a privilege to have worked with him. We're going to really miss his smile. Was genuinely caring about everyone. Bruce was a wonderful person to work with, someone you could always count on, a great boss and who's opinion I valued. He made work fun and enjoyable. It was a pleasure to work with Bruce and he will be missed deeply. One of the most caring people around. Obviously a loving father and husband - he was always talking so proudly about his family. Thank you Lord for allowing me to have know a truly special person as Bruce. His sweet smile, gentle manner and that twinkle in his eyes will be missed. |
