Our congregation, Congregation Beth Am, engaged Bruce David to design and fabricate a large (eleven foot wide) half moon shaped glass mosaic piece. Our goal was to depict "Women in Judaism." Bruce's research and creativity intertwined history and its significance by incorporating it into an inspired and dazzling design. From start to finish, Bruce was professional, as were his fabricators. He met every milestone date in his contract and was a pleasure to work with.
The design and quality far exceeded our vision.

These windows were commissioned for the Rosenblum Sanctuary at Ahavat Achim Synagogue in Howell, New Jersey.
By painting the hands of the Cohen (Jewish priest) on one piece of glass, and attaching it behind the front glass with the Torah painted on it, David created a visual effect that makes the blessing of the priests appear to be radiating from their hands.
David also created a very exciting second visual dimension to the composition by incorporating all nine windows, and the breaks between the windows, into a large hidden Torah scroll. Most people do not even see this until it is pointed out to them, and then they are amazed. If you have an image of this window, look at each of the four corner windows and you will see the handles of the Torah. From there, you can connect them and see the large hidden Torah. David even made the hands holding the handles of the Torah appear to be leaves.
David's use of specialty glasses, including one that changes colors (dicroix), plus bevels, jewels, and sand blasting, really help to create a marvelous visual effect. Moreover, the hand painting on the glass, depicting all the finest detail and shadowing, is of the highest quality. While hard to describe, by weaving all these effects together so skillfully, David's window emanates an almost palpable feeling, one that reaches out to and touches the soul of the viewer.
I highly recommend Bruce David to you, feeling very confident that you, too, will be extremely pleased with his creativity and the quality of his art. I would like to speak for a moment as to the talent and dedication of an artist - Bruce David. Our synagogue, Congregation Beth Am in Buffalo Grove, IL, is privileged to have two original mosaics that have been created by Bruce. These pieces are nothing short of magnificent. Each was created as a result of the sponsorship of members of our congregation, and neither of the sponsoring families could be happier with the results.
Bruce David has a very unique way of going about creating a work of art such as this. In fact, it would be just as appropriate to call them works of heart. Bruce is personally involved in each and every step of the development, from the conceptual sketches that he presents to the sponsors to ensure that he is capturing the spirit of what they are after, to the selection of each of the thousands of pieces of glass that comprise his ultimate creation. The entire fabrication process is conducted under Bruce's watchful eye, and the result of all of this is an explosion of creativity and color unlike anything one could have imagined in their wildest dreams. I would encourage anybody considering Bruce David to visit us and view his creations for themselves.

I am writing this letter on behalf of Temple Beth Sholom in Hamden, Connecticut as a reference for Bruce David. Our synagogue just completed a major renovation costing over two million dollars. One unique part of this renovation was our oval chapel. This chapel has fourteen windows, varying in size. Our congregation wanted stained glass windows for this chapel and we hired Bruce David. Mr. David came on a recommendation from one of our members who saw his work in Chicago.
Bruce David was extremely professional throughout this entire process. We had several conference calls between our committee and Mr. David. He was easy to work with and fulfilled the many wishes of this committee. The Rabbi of our congregation and myself flew out to personally meet with Bruce in the beginning stages of this project, and he was very accommodating. Our windows are unique and beautiful. We have a congregation of over 450 families and everyone is thrilled by his work. He personally came to Connecticut to ensure that the windows were installed properly. Dear Bruce,
I must share with you an amazing happening that just transpired in our synagogue, and thank you for your part in this story.
A group scheduled a tour of our synagogue and requested that I share with them everything that makes Judaism special. However, due to a scheduling snafu they only gave less than 20 minutes to do so.
As soon as they arrived, I brought them straight to the windows, which you created, for our synagogue. The sun was streaming in and it seemed like the hands of G-d was visible through the many symbols and motives which you implanted so beautifully throughout their design.
I brought them to the first window and shared with them the faith and humility of Moses at the burning bush, and I must tell you the bush actually looked like it was on fire. We talked about the Noahhide laws and the hope symbolized by the doves leaving Noah's Ark. They asked me about the biblical quote, which adorns the top of the window, and I was able to teach about the prophecy and the hopes and dreams, which Judaism incorporates. We moved to the next window and I had them pick out religious symbols that they were familiar with in the picture of Jerusalem. They were amazed by finding the English word Shalom, and over fifteen different symbols of Jewish life. The message of Israel from Mount Sinai to the present day became obvious thru this magnificent depiction.
We went to the third window where they saw the near sacrifice of Isaac, as well as the great shofar depicted above it. I was able to explain devotion, faith, and the promise of the future redemption, all within the allotted time.
I often meditate while looking at your windows, for they continue to inspire me with new insights and inspirations. I thank you so much for the beauty and meaning you have brought into my life, and into the lives of all of those who have seen and learned from your magnificent creations of art.
