| Bruce David's Recent Career Highlights | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| McGraw Hill publishers included David's art in a new college textbook "Experiencing the World's Religions" by Molloy. For their section on Judaism, they wanted one living Jewish artist represented along with Chagall, and chose David's art. Hall mark Cards recently released a third design of David's art in their "Tree of Life" Notecard line. |

| We feel very fortunate to have made many significant strides with the art in our efforts on behalf of Jewish awareness and
education. David has often been heard to refer to his art as being similar to a visual mezuzah, in that by bringing it into people's homes, schools, and synagogues, the art serves as a reminder of the Divine Presence in our lives. As such, we feel
blessed by our recent accomplishments and the potential the future holds. |

| Current Projects: David recently completed a set of fourteen stained glass windows for a new Jewish synagogue in Connecticut. Before that, he created three six foot tall stained glass windows for St. Louis, as well as an eleven foot wide glass mosaic and two four foot stained glass windows for a synagogue in (Bufallo Grove) Chicago. He is also working with his son on a CD of music, and finishing revisions on a Haggadah of his art, stories, and prayers. Moreover, the "Jewish Voice" and "National Jewish Post and Opinion" both featured David's art, plus an article by David, in their Passover editions, and "Being Jewish" magazine and the Kansas City Jewish Chronicle have chosen David's art for the cover of this year's High Holidays editions. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
St. Martin's Press - David's art was chosen for the covers of two of Mitchell Chefitz's books, Seventh Telling and The Thirty Third Hour. Mitchell Chefitz employs his novels to share important aspects of Judaism through fictional stories. Seventh Telling made the LA Times "Best Sellers" list. Polsky's Stained Glass Windows (Kansas City) - David created six stained glass windows for a private home in Kansas City. Entitled "On the Shores of Freedom," these stunning windows portray the climax of the Exodus story when Miriam leads the people in singing and dancing on the shores of the Red Sea. The Jewish Chronicle featured a color picture of the windows on the cover of its newspapers and Hallmark Cards chose this design for a Passover Card premiering in 2005. Jonah Glass Mosaic - This glass mosaic relates the story of Jonah. This is the first time David has utilized his multi-dimensional symbolism in a glass mosaic. It includes many unique art techniques, as well as specialty glass and hand painting incorporated into its design. We are very excited about this piece, and critics feel it is an awesome work of art. Rosenblum Sanctuary Stained Glass Windows (New Jersey) - One of David's commissions was to produce a set of large stained glass windows for a synagogue in New Jersey. This is a very special project for the David's because together, the windows reflect the hopes and blessings of parents for their children, and the importance of family, friends and community to our children's well being. "Jerusalem, City of Peace" Original Serigraph - This original hand pulled serigraph is the largest David has currently made of these extremely high quality art prints. This project took well over a year and a half to complete, but upon viewing it, most people believe that it was well worth it. We believe it to be among the most beautiful and highest quality prints David has yet made. "The Jewish Soul Haggadah… Where Heaven and Earth Touch" - Currently in the works, this Haggadah includes David's art, stories, prayers and drashim. This extraordinary project will be the most inclusive compilation of David's work to date, including a considerable amount of his art, as well as David's own special sharings pertaining to his work. "HeartSong Celebration" Collector's Plates - The David's have completed an edition of limited edition porcelain plates to add to their art line. Based on David's "HeartSong Celebration" glass mosaic, these are museum quality, art collector plates. "Heavenly Blessings" Stained Glass Window - Entitled "Heavenly Blessings," David designed this stained glass window similar to his "Love, Life and Peace" picture. BabagaNewz - A Jewish magazine designed to help educate students and assist teachers. BabagaNewz chose David's "New Beginnings" composition as the magazine's first pullout/pinup picture as a way to provide students with an opportunity to have a piece of Jewish art to hang in their homes. Jewish World (Long Island), Jewish Sentinel (Manhattan), and Jewish Tribune (Rockland) - These three New York Jewish newspapers once again displayed David's art on the covers of their Passover Edition newspapers. Additionally, a full-page article, with color pictures of three more of David's art pieces, was included inside the newspapers. The title of the article was "The Art of Reconnecting." A subtitle under a picture of the artist reads: "Bruce David captures the joy of Judaism." Cleveland Jewish News - A large full color picture of David's original serigraph, "Torah Legacy," was featured on the cover of the Shavuot edition of the newspaper. Jewish Post and Opinion - This newspaper has featured David's art on the covers of many of their newspapers, including their High Holiday editions, and directories listing all Jewish related organizations, synagogues and schools. AMIT (formerly Mizrachi) Women - In the second largest Jewish women's organization in the world's magazine, David was featured in an issue of their international periodical. Hand Etched/Sand Carved Seder Plate - Based on David's Storytelling Seder Plate designed, each of these plates has to be hand etched and carefully sandblasted to include all the minute details in the glass. As most of you know, David has been a frequent exhibitor and/or speaker at most of the largest international and national Jewish Conferences, as well as many community functions, exhibits and festivals around the country. Additionally, David has won an educational award from Hadassah Women for his slide show presentation, and has had his work included among 20th century artists in a fine art appreciation course at one of the top colleges in the country. Many schools have also used David's art with great success in teaching their students about the special values of our heritage. Moreover, David has also had numerous museum and gallery showings, and his art has won the praise of museum and school of fine arts directors, Distinguished Lecturers in Fine arts, as well as art professors and critics around the country. Besides his high quality hand pulled serigraphs, lithographs, stained glass windows and glass mosaics, David has also produced metal sculptures and bronze relief. David's stained glass, glass mosaics, metal sculptures and other art may be found in synagogues, schools, Jewish Community Centers and Federations, and in the offices of national organizations. |

| Commissions: | David has designed and supervised the fabrication and installation of large stained glass windows, three dimensional metal art sculptures, and
glass mosaics for synagogues, schools and individuals. The art of Bruce David has been exhibited at all the major Jewish organizations' national and international conventions and conferences numerous times, including Hadassah, UAHC, CAJE, Council of Jewish Federations and UJA's General Assemblies, B'nai B'rith, and for many other Jewish organizations. David's art has been featured at various community events around the country (see exhibition list on back), and at the world's largest book fair in Frankfurt, Germany. David has also displayed his work at many museum and fine arts gallery exhibitions. Bruce David's art has won the praise of museum and school of fine arts directors, Distinguished Lecturers in Fine Arts, art critics and reviewers. Both the National President and National Jewish Education Director of Hadassah have endorsed his work. Additionally, David and his art have been included among 20th Century artists in the Indiana University Hope School of Fine Arts' art appreciation course. (See Critiques handout.) David is continuously one of the best selling visual artists at international, national and regional conferences, as well as at community festivals, synagogue fairs, etc. Occasionally, his art has sold more by itself than all other artists represented at these events. Since the sponsors of these functions receive a percentage, the sales of David's art help provide great financial benefits to their organizations. |

| Hillel's Outreach Program for Jewish Education | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Our heritage has so much to offer, but if we want there to be a future legacy for those to come, we need to find a way to
reach our young people and those in need now in a way to which they can relate. We need something contemporary that will instill a positive sense of Jewish identity to the next generation of our people. We at Hillel feel we have found a way to do
something about the problem, but we need your help. This is a totally different approach, but one that we strongly feel has the potential to do so much good. We call it "HOPE," because it offers a ray of hope for our children, a way to bring light to
those living in darkness. At Hillel, we have the experience of working with college students when they are at an influential stage in their lives. We know how important it is to provide them with a better understanding of all the wonderful things that Judaism has to offer when they are still open to learning. You have heard the saying, "out of sight, out of mind." This is one of the underlying reasons Jews are instructed to put mezuzahs on the doorposts of their homes, to remind us of God's presence in our lives. This also is the essential principal behind H.O.P.E.'s first Jewish educational and outreach effort, the "Visual Mezuzah" Project. Many of you are probably already familiar with the work of the Jewish artist/educator, Bruce David. Perhaps what many of you do not know is that the motivation for all of David's efforts is to bring an increased awareness, understanding and appreciation of Judaism to others. His goal, which he has dedicated himself to for over twenty years, is the life purpose of all caring Jews, to be a "light of the nations." We at Hillel feel David's extremely unique art can be a very important step in the lives of our youth. The art is contemporary and something that they relate too very well. Additionally, David's art captures the beauty of our heritage in a way that makes it spiritually fulfilling.This is so important in keeping our next generation from seeking self-realization in other religions. Moreover, the art is something students can take with them to their new homes or apartments. Here it can serve as a "Visual Mezuzah," a beautiful reminder of God's presence in their lives. We have always felt that Judaica is what makes a house a home, and feel that, hopefully, this will be the case for them, as well. Having discussed our goals with David, and worked out a suitable and very generous arrangement, we are now very excited about the prospect of putting our plan into action. For so long people have been saying we need a new and exciting way of relating to our young people if we are going to be able to have any success in reaching them. Here at Hillel, we strongly believe we have found it. David's art is exciting, entertaining, enjoyable and… educational. It has been proven successful time and again in reaching young people who had never previously shown an interest in anything Jewish. Please join us by making out your tax-deductible donation to Hillel today, and designating it for the "H.O.P.E. Project." Together we can make a difference! Thank You! |

| BRUCE DAVID'S BIOGRAPHY | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A "DISTINGUISHED LECTURER IN FINE ARTS," PROFESSOR MAZELLE VAN BUSKIRK, DISCOVERED THE ART OF BRUCE DAVID IN 1982. HAVING TAUGHT ART
APPRECIATION AT THE INDIANA UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF FINE ARTS FOR OVER A QUARTER OF A CENTURY, PROFESSOR VAN BUSKIRK WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH THIS SELF-TAUGHT ARTIST'S TALENTS THAT SHE COMPARED DAVID'S ART WITH THAT OF MARC CHAGALL'S AT A MAJOR CONFERENCE
OUTSIDE CHICAGO. THIS "DISTINGUISHED LECTURER IN FINE ARTS" WRITES, "IT IS RARE TO FIND WORKS OF ART THAT ARE, OR SEEM TO BE, WITHOUT PRECEDENT. THE ART OF BRUCE DAVID IS SUCH A RARITY." SHE GOES ON TO STATE, "ONCE THE VIEWER IS GUIDED THROUGH THE
MAGNIFICENT ARRAY OF COLORS AND FORMS, HE WILL FIND NEVER-ENDING DELIGHT IN THE STUDY OF THESE MOST ORIGINAL DRAWINGS." |
