HOW THIS MITZVAH PROJECT ORIGINATED
Bruce David originally promoted this Mitzvah Project at a large, international art exhibit in memory of his grandmother, "Mama Bess" Harris, who had passed away recently. Mama Bess, a spiritual mentor for Bruce, dedicated her life to her volunteer work for God, Israel and Judaism. She was also the type who when she saw a need, did something about it. She taught Bruce that you couldn't always wait for others when there is important work that needs to be done, particularly in helping others. Through her actions, she showed how much one person, who is willing to make the effort, could achieve. Bruce's first Mitzvah Project was so successful, and people were so generous in helping him in his efforts to feed hungry children in Israel, that he has decided to expand his efforts at Tikkun Olam with this Mitzvah Project.

Below is a list of the projects we have chosen as part of this Mitzvah Project. We feel each of these is an extremely worthwhile and meaningful organization to be involved with, and that they all provide important and neccesary services. While not as well known as some other organizations, these programs do a fantastic job of meeting people's essential needs, with a very minimal, or no, administration overhead.
If you have a different cause you prefer to contribute to, please let us know.

Table to Table
Since its inception, Table to Table has grown from a one-person campaign to an operation with a team of 700 part-time volunteers, and a staff of 8 full-time employees. Every week, Table to Table collects over 10,000 meals, 40 tons of fruits and vegetables, and tens of thousands of fresh products. Table to Table supplies the food it collects to non-profit agencies throughout Israel, including food banks, homeless shelters, afternoon-clubs for youth, seniors' residences, battered-women's shelters, meals-on-wheels programs, and more.

North American Conference on Ethiopian Jewry
Nacoej is the only organization providing food to poor and hungry Jewish children, to pregnant and nursing Jewish mothers, and to the Jewish communities, in Ethiopia. They also provide essential services to those Ethiopian Jews who have already made aliyah to Israel, but are currently in desperate need of emergency assistance. Nacoej has Charity Navigator's highest rating for the proportion of funds spent on programs, instead of on overhead.

"Extremely Unique" Storytelling Art filled with hidden symbolism.
In one composition, "Jonah's Journey of Discovery," the tail of the whale turns into the prophet Jonah. In this print, based on one of David's glass mosaics, the whale learns that "you can't keep a good man down."

In another lithograph, "New Beginnings," the bodies of the animals from Noah's ark
spell the word "shalom," symbolic of the covenant of peace.

In yet another picture, "City of Peace," the buildings in the city of Jerusalem are composed
of all types of traditional accompaniments to our biblical heritage.

And these are just the tip of the iceberg. In "On Eagles' Wings," which almost everyone agrees is the most complete depiction of the biblical odyssey found in one design, David has incorporated an almost unbelievable amount of what he refers to as multidimensional symbolism, where you can look at the images in different ways and see different things.

While it is hard using words to explain the true depth of symbolism and meaning woven into David's designs, we invite you to check out our web site and discover the unparalleled qualities of this outstanding, and most unusual art.

David's "storytelling" pictures have received international acclaim from art professionals worldwide as being truly unique. When viewed one way, you see the art differently than when you look at it a different way. (Select the "About the Artist" link for references.)

David's work is in great demand, proving itself by continually being among the best art sellers at the many international and national conventions at which David has exhibited (select "Career Highlights" in the "About the Artist" link). His hard-to-come-by originals have been drawing prices well up into the five figure range. In the last few years, David has designed large stained glass windows and metal sculptures for synagogues, as well as glass mosaics and bronze reliefs.

As you will find by examining our information, the David Gallery's prices are extremely reasonable for the high quality art prints offered. Because our purpose is to promote a better understanding and awareness of our heritage, we make every attempt to keep our art as affordable as possible.

The David Gallery hopes you will join us in our efforts to be a "light of the nations." Be among the many extremely satisfied people who view having the art of Bruce David as a unique and exceptional way of bringing the light and love of our special heritage into their community.
