"Jonah's Journey of Discovery"
This stunning glass mosaic depicts the adventures of the prophet Jonah.
By incorporating many types of unique specialty glass to capture the explosiveness of the raging sea and the intensity of the sun's heat, as well as extensive hand painting, David was able to create a flowing, radiant design that illuminates the feeling of this incredible quest.
3.3ft. x 2.8ft.
Watch as the Hidden Becomes Revealed! 1)Notice how the tail of the whale, coming up out of the water, actually makes up the robe of Jonah.

2)To portray the hidden, mystical aspects of this parable, there is a large face woven into the design of the Jonah form sitting beneath the leaves of the large gourd on ther left side of the composition. If you look closely, you will see how the pants of the small Jonah form actually compose the nose of the large face, while the rock Jonah is sitting on is really a beard.
"HeartSong Celebration"
One of the largest of David's glass mosaics, this piece is 5 feet in diameter.

This elaborate design includes 7,000 - 10,000 pieces of glass and mosiac tiles, an extensive amount of hand painting, as well as mirrors and many types of specialty glass.
Depicts Moses, Miriam and the Jewish people celebrating their freedom by the shores of the Red Sea. In portraying the people dancing and singing as a reflection of their love and gratitude, it additionally serves as a reminder as to how we can properly show our appreciation for all we have to be thankful for in our own lives. The highest form of prayer is a full and thankful heart. Ecstasy, as rendered in the composition, bursts forth when our hearts overflow with love. May we share the feelings that our ancestors felt on that day when we rejoice in our own lives, in our own special destiny.

This picture is based on a five foot round glass mosaic designed by the artist, Bruce David. It is a very unique art piece, containing between 7000-10,000 pieces of glass. The mosaic entails extensive hand painting (some pieces individually required firing in a kiln four to five times each), as well as numerous types of mirrors and specialty glass. (Examples - Note the Catspaw glass used for the turtle shell, and the Drapery glass used to simulate both the ruffled feathers on the swan and the hair on the dog. These are similar to Tiffany glass, used by the artist in Victorian times for his windows and mosaics.) The glass used for the rays of light were laminated on mirrors to depict the illuminating light of God's love shining down on the people at that time. Additionally, the composition includes imported Venetian glass mosaic tiles and hand blown imported antique glass.

"Rainbow Blessing"
11 feet x 5.5 feet
This blessing picture depicts our desire that our daughters, the future generations of the women of Israel, will possess the essential traits of the great Jewish women who preceded them. The two large hands portray this blessing as one which is being passed through the generations of time. The rendering of the Matriarchs woven into the center of the "Tree of Life" design exemplifies the indispensable nature of their existence to the survival of our people. On either side of the tree are many of the distinguished women whose leadership and courage helped shape our future. In blessing our own daughters, we pray that they, too, should possess the special traits of these notable and remarkable women who preceded them. By learning from those who came before, we hope that they, too, can find meaning and wholeness in their lives and be worthy of their special heritage.

for My Shechina (Divine Presence) will dwell in your midst."

"Following the Dream"

32" Diameter

The journey originated with Abraham and Sarah, seen standing beside their tent. Isaac, their son to whom they passed their vision of a better world and life, is found in the tent's opening. The path of our heritage continued throughout the generations by our ancestors who carried on this quest. Along the way was Miriam, then David, depicted in the design with their tamborine and harp. The ultimate goal for all is the time of peace, seen represented by the Isaiah prophecy of the lion, the lamb, and the little child who will lead them. All good, caring people who are working to make this vision a reality, are part of this journey. They too are "following the dream."

Glass mosaics are created like tile mosaics (where small pieces are put together to form a total design). David's mosaics entail extensive hand painting, some pieces require being individually fired in a kiln four to five times each. His mosiacs also include numerous types of mirrors and specialty glass. Examples - In the "HeartSong Celebration" mosaic, note the Catspaw glass used for the turtle shell, and the Drapery glass used to simulate both the ruffled feathers on the swan and the hair on the dog. This same drapery glass was used in the "Jonah's Journey of Discovery" mosaic to capture the effect of the wind blowing on the sail of the boat and in the wings of the large birs in the lower laft corner of the piece. These glasses are similar to Tiffany glass, used by the artist in Victorian times for his windows and mosaics. The glass used for the rays of light were laminated on mirrors to depict the illuminating light of God's love shining down on the people at that time. Additionally, the composition includes imported Venetian glass mosaic tiles and hand blown imported antique glass.

A glass mosaic can be produced using several techniques. Small glass pieces can be assembled to form a larger picture, or numerous pieces may be used to create entire scenes. At times this requires painting a backdrop to complete the design. While opalescent glass is used in a mosaic to create a special feeling, iridized glass can also be included to create a luminance effect. (See Miriam's tambourine and David's harp in the "Following the Dream" mosiac and the waters and sky of the "Jonah's Journey of Discovery" mosiac.)

Whenever Bruce takes one of these pieces to his exhibits, it almost always attracts the most attention, and people just marvel at how these mosaics are so unique and wonderful.
