Volunteers provide an essential service for our library. Their duties include using our BELS computer system to check books in and out of the library, shelving materials which have been returned, preparing periodicals for circulation, occasionally assisiting with bulletin board or display preparation , and helping to maintain the collection in an orderly fashion. Without the time our volunteers so generously and consistently donate, it would be impossible for the library program to function as it presently does. The librarian's time is devoted to instruction in skills or developing literature awareness and reading guidance. These would all have to be curtailed if librarian time were needed for circulation procedures.
