CD of the day

So, I'm going through old disc to see if there was something I haven't listened to for awhile...lo and behold I find Chris Cornell's Euphoria Morning. Been listening to it all day here at work and can't get it out of the player. I think it helps that he collaborated on this album with Natasha Shneider and Alain Johannes. Who are these folks you ask? They are Eleven. More on them some other time.

For those who haven't heard this, don't go in looking for Rusty Cage or BigDumbSex. This is Singer/Songwriter Chris Cornell crooning away. Yeah it rocks, but it's a nice listen too.

But then again I'm biased cause I think Chris has one of the most powerful and distinctive voices in rock.

Must hear tracks: Disappearing One, Pillow of your Bones, Wave Goodbye.

Summerall explained

From Bill Simmons:
And while we're at it, are we absolutely sure that Summerall is doing these games, and that ESPN didn't just cue up hundreds of old "Madden 2001" soundbites? Conceivably, with the way technology is going, Pat Summerall could keep broadcasting through the rest of the century. Which is a good thing. He's like Marv Albert to me -- it just feels like a bigger game when he's involved. Even if ESPN is possibly using CGI to make it happen.)
(Uh-oh, there's a man down!)
(FLAG on the play!)

This may explain why on recent ESPN broadcasts, it sounds like Summerall isn't even in the same room. (Although I'm sure he's ready for another liver and a game of Russian Roulette after listening to Theismann for 3 hours.) My favorite Summerallian utterance is the classic: "Warner,Faulk,Touchdown"

While on the subject of announcers, try catching the latest episode of Inside the NFL. Comedian Joe Queenan has a great riff on why we should fire broadcasters in the middle of games, and how a couple of stuffed animals would be better than the talking heads we're used to.

The show no one will watch this season (except me)

I was lucky enough to come across a show on UPN last night that has the potential to be a great show...It's called Veronica Mars. It follows the exploits of a high school student who used to be in the "IN" crowd until her father wasn't the Sheriff anymore. As she explains in the voice over in the beginning "Neptune High is for those who are millionaires or those who work for them." No in-between here.

Oh yeah, she also works for her dad as a non-official Private Investigator.
I dig underdog stories and since I'm one of the two who didn't latch on to The O.C. I'm gonna latch on to this one. Which of course means it will go the way of Wonderfalls last year and Firefly the previous...Such is my life.

So lately I have been frustrated with the cracking of my cheap plates and bowls and I am looking to update the (old ones that I bought in college at Ross) to a new set...I figure new loft...nice new dishes. In making my selection I had to think about my big Ox of a boyfriend who likes to break anything in his path when making this purchase. After much review I have narrowed it down to a brand "Villeroy & Boch" they are known for having high quality dishes that "DO NOT BREAK EASY". So now we come to the big debate.. do I go for a simple white pattern?? or something more fun and a lot more color?? I have to say it's a tough decision?! Although I normally would lean towards the classic white... I find myself looking for more color....

Some Color

Picked up new Green Day album

Gotta say, this is a great album, through my 3rd listen today already at work, and I plan on listening to it on the way home to.

It's a concept album, a punk rock opera and great work music.

Have I ever mentioned that these guys put on a GREAT show? Had the chance to see them at the legendary Fillmore in SF right when Nimrod (my favorite album by them) came out. Talk about showmanship and fun. The Fillmore gives out free poster for the show and the art on the one from that night had a bunch of pierced, tattooed....babies on it. Needless to say that had a prominent place in my apartment at SFSU.
