I think I went to the wrong school
So, my buddy Loren was down last weekend and he had tickets to the USC/Cal game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Having gone to a school that shuttered it's football program because the women on campus wanted a football team also, I never got to experience what it's like to see a real college football game. Let alone a sold out one.
So we went and WOW!!!
First of all we saw Aaron Rodgers, the QB for Cal, complete 23 passes in a row, for a minute there I thought I was watching the '02 Raiders again. This kid is unstoppable and something special, I wonder if the Ravens could trade in Boller and pick this kid up instead.
Then I saw the next great wunderkind of football make a most spectacular play. There's a Sophomore by the name of Reggie Bush...Bush received a kickoff, MUFFED it, picked it up and ran it back 93 yards to be taken down at the Cal 3. I have never seen a crowd more amped for a non scoring play. I saw shirts that said "Bush/Leinert '04" . This kid is special, a playmaker and is a backup running back...Now, after I said all that, he'll be a first round draft pick and be the next Ki-Jiana Carter. Oy
Luckily I didn't have to hear the only song the USC band knows (USC, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT) over and over again, but I did hear them do a tribute to funk at halftime (featuring "Atomic Dog").
I can understand why people get into it, to have so many thousands of people cheering for one singular thing, to keep up the pride of one's Alma Mater.
If protesting was a sport, I guess my Alma Mater would be a contender, oh well.
